Frequently asked questions
As a husband and wife counseling team, our work is shaped by both professional training and lived experience. Having walked through our own relational recovery, we understand how patterns form, how disconnection takes hold, and what it takes to rebuild trust and intimacy over time. Our approach is rooted in attachment and informed by:
Relational Life Institute, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) developed by Sue Johnson, Prepare/Enrich, and Embody Lab for nervous system regulation.
We help individuals and couples slow down, identify the cycles that keep them stuck, and create new relational experiences that foster safety, emotional responsiveness, and lasting connection.
Before scheduling, please contact your insurance provider (using the number on the back of your card) to confirm out-of-network mental health benefits and reimbursement rates. Upon request, our team can set up automatic monthly superbills through Jane, which you’ll receive by email. At the beginning of each month, you’ll log into your insurance portal, complete the out-of-network claim form, and upload your superbill. After processing, your insurer will issue an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) and, if applicable, reimbursement—typically within 30–45 business days.
Most clients begin with weekly sessions to build momentum, establish safety, and identify core relational patterns. After the initial session, we recommend committing to at least five consecutive sessions to allow the work to deepen and create meaningful traction. As progress is made, sessions may transition to biweekly or maintenance visits based on your goals, needs, and stage of therapy. Session frequency is always collaborative and adjusted to support lasting change.
We understand that emergencies and unexpected situations happen, and we do our best to be understanding. To help us plan and respect everyone’s time, we ask that you please note our policy: sessions canceled within 24 hours of your appointment, for any reason, will be charged. We truly appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work together.
We are a husband-and-wife counseling team, but most sessions are conducted individually with one of us. We only work together in co-therapy sessions, which are designed for couples or families to receive support from both of us at the same time. These sessions are billed at a higher rate, reflecting the combined expertise and attention you receive.
Yes! While most sessions are with one of us individually, we encourage co-therapy sessions when working with couples or families, especially in situations of high conflict or complex relational dynamics. In co-therapy, you benefit from both of our perspectives, expertise, and support at the same time. We are trained in Relational Life Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and are addiction-informed, allowing us to provide comprehensive guidance and insight tailored to your unique relationship challenges. Co-therapy sessions are billed at a higher rate, reflecting the combined attention and expertise you receive.
